Are your summer plans already set? Whether you’re going on a road trip, heading to Europe, or staying local for a relaxing staycation, you might be a little unsure of what to expect if you recently got Invisalign. The good news is that the aligners are removable, so you won’t have to abide by any dietary restrictions or feel self-conscious about your smile in photos. You will, however, need to take good care of your teeth and trays to stay on-track with your treatment plan. With this in mind, here are four helpful tips for traveling with Invisalign!

1. Pack the Aligners You Need

Although Invisalign is pretty convenient, there are some rules you need to follow to stay on-track, like switching to each new set of aligners in the series on the correct day. So, make sure that you bring your current trays as well as any ones you’ll need while on your trip! Make sure to pack them carefully too; the last thing you want is for them to break in transit!

2. Keep All of the Essentials Close By

During your Invisalign treatment, it’s important that you brush your teeth after each meal. Naturally, that’s difficult to do if your oral hygiene supplies aren’t in your carry-on or are trapped under several bags in your trunk. To make things easier for yourself, keep everything you need in a small pouch – from a travel-sized toothbrush to a small bottle of floss.

3. Store Your Trays Properly

You might be tempted to wrap your trays in a napkin or leave them on the bathroom counter at your hotel, but this can easily lead to them getting lost or misplaced. That’s why patients are encouraged to always place theirs in their designated case. It’s also important to always place the case in the same spot so you don’t lose that either.

4. Take Good Care of Your Teeth

One of the best parts of a vacation is not having a set routine; you can sleep in, stay up late, and not have to worry about work and school in between. That said, it’s important that you maintain a solid oral hygiene regimen while you’re away. If you don’t, then there’s a chance that you’ll come back home with decayed teeth, infected gums, and stained trays.
